When will you release us? - Asif wants to ask Pori Moni

Popular Bangladeshi singer Asif Akbar, is renowned in the entertainment industry for his candid and outspoken nature. He often draws both admiration and criticism for his straightforward views.

In a recent appearance on a private TV talk show, the host asked Asif what questions he would pose to some of the country's prominent celebrities if given the chance. 

True to his style, Asif shared some direct and pointed queries.

Regarding actress Pori Moni, Asif described her as somewhat eccentric and unpredictable. He said he would ask her,   "When will you release us?"  

He added, "Do something decisive, settle down. And tell me how you will manage it too."  

Asif also praised an aspect of her personality, noting, "I have spoken with Pori Moni before. She is always smiling and takes everything very casually—that's one of her really great qualities."

He then turned to film superstar Shakib Khan, expressing curiosity about a noticeable shift in his performances. 

Asif remarked that Shakib's dialogue delivery sounds one way, but his singing voice in playback/lip-sync scenes becomes noticeably thinner and somewhat feminine. 

He pointed out that legendary playback singers like Andrew Kishore, Milu Bhai, and Syed Abdul Hadi have lent their voices to songs, yet the current tones do not seem to match Shakib well. 

Asif's question to him would be: "How are you enjoying this?"  

He further emphasised, "Playback singing has its own grammar, and it's important for artists to pay attention to that."

Asif did not hold back on another celebrity either—popular band icon Mahfuz Enam James. 

He questioned why such a major artist remains largely absent from national movements or struggles. 

Asif observed, "You have a big presence on Facebook and share various things, but you stay silent on artists' issues or the country's crises—nothing comes out of your mouth!" He expressed a desire to ask James directly about the reasons behind this silence.  

Asif's comments reflect his signature bold approach to addressing personalities in Bangladeshi showbiz and society.
