Bogies derail in Bhairab, Dhaka-Chittagong-Sylhet train services suspended

A bogie of the Dhaka Mail-2 (Down) train derailed at Bhairab Bazar Junction in Kishoreganj district. 

The incident occurred on the joint line approximately 150 meters from the station around 3:00 am on Tuesday, leading to the complete suspension of train services on the Dhaka-Chittagong-Sylhet route.

Mohammad Yusuf, Station Master of Bhairab Railway Station, reported that a relief train arrived from Akhaura at 8:00 am on Tuesday and immediately commenced rescue and restoration operations.

According to the Station Master, the Dhaka Mail-2 (Down) departed from Dhaka’s Kamalapur Railway Station bound for Chittagong at 11:45 pm on Monday. The train reached Bhairab station at 2:40 am and, after a brief halt, resumed its journey toward Chittagong at 3:20 am. Shortly after leaving the station, the engine and some bogies derailed. 

Station Master Mohammad Yusuf confirmed that the derailment caused no injuries or fatalities. 

However, train movement on the affected section remains halted. Rescue and clearance work began at 8:00 am following the arrival of the relief train from Akhaura. 

He assured that train services on the route are expected to resume shortly once the line is cleared.
