Five van passengers killed in truck accident in Naogaon

Five people were killed in a drum truck accident in Mahadevpur, Naogaon. 

The accident occurred at around 4 am on Saturday in the Pathakathi area of the upazila. 

The deceased are Sanchu Urao (48), son of Mangra Urao; Bipul Pahan (22), son of Jutua Pahan; Biren (50), son of Khoka Pahan; Ujjwal Pahan (24), son of the deceased Naren Pahan; and Biplob (22), son of Anil Pahan. 

The injured Samant is the son of Rames of the same village.

According to local and police sources, the drum truck was heading towards Patnitala from Mahadevpur. On the way, the driver of the truck lost control and ran over a van. Two people died on the spot.

Mahadevpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kashem said, "The drum truck was going from Mahadevpur towards Patnitala. On the way, the truck driver lost control over its steering and hit a van. Two people were killed on the spot. Three were sent to the Upazila Health Complex in critical condition."

Mahadebpur Upazila Health Complex Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Imrul Kayes said, three people were brought to the hospital in critical condition around 5 am. A total of five people died in the incident.
