DNCC administrator Ejaz banned from leaving country

The court has banned the departure of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ejaz. 

Following the ACC's application, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Senior Special Judge's Court Judge Md. Sabbir Faiz issued the order on Sunday.

ACC Assistant Director (Public Relations) Tanjir Ahmed confirmed the matter. 

ACC's Director Md. Ashiqur Rahman filed the application seeking the ban.

The application states that the ACC is investigating allegations of various irregularities, corruption and bribery against Mohammad Ejaz by abusing his power. 

There are allegations against him in the lease of Mirpur Gabtoli Pashur Hat under DNCC, e-rickshaw project, occupation of Borak Tower or Hotel Sheraton, allocation of shops in Banani Raw Market, construction and allocation of shops in the parking lot of Khilgaon Taltola Supermarket, vehicle service of the City Corporation, allocation of shops on footpaths and various other matters related to the interests of DNCC.

It is worth noting that on January 21, Mohammad Ejaz was ordered to appear before the ACC office on January 29 in a notice. 

He was summoned to respond to various allegations against him. 

But he did not appear before the ACC on January 29. 

On February 12, 2025, Mohammad Ejaz was appointed as the administrator of DNCC by the interim government. 

He is the chairman of the River and Delta Research Center.
