Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026 issued

The government has promulgated the Dhaka Central University (DCU) Ordinance, 2026, incorporating seven colleges of Dhaka, for public information.

A notification in this regard was issued yesterday by the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The matter was informed to the media on Monday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Law Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim.

It stated that this ordinance has been enacted to establish the Dhaka Central University. The establishment of a new university suitable for providing modern and quality higher education is deemed necessary in order to ensure quality curricula, teaching, certification and overall management of undergraduate and postgraduate education and research activities of seven college-based institutions in Dhaka district and metropolitan area. 

These seven colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Titumir College, Government Bangla College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women’s College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College.

This ordinance shall be called as the Dhaka Central University Ordinance, 2026 and it shall come into effect immediately.
