BNP got 50pc of votes, Jamaat 32pc, NCP 3pc

In the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured 49.97 percent of the total votes, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami received 31.76 percent, and the National Citizens Party (NCP) obtained 3.05 percent. 

Independent candidates, who won seven seats, bagged 5.79 percent of the votes.

The Election Commission released these official vote share figures on Sunday, three days after the election took place on Thursday. 

The BNP achieved an absolute majority, winning enough seats for a two-thirds majority in parliament, positioning it to form the next government.

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, who recently returned from long exile, is set to lead the new government. 

The swearing-in ceremony for the new cabinet is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the South Plaza of the National Parliament.

Interim government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended invitations to heads of government from 13 countries to attend the event. These include China, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Malaysia, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, and Bhutan. 

Reports indicate that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his invitation on Saturday, following consultations between the interim government and BNP leadership.
