9 named for Bangla Academy Literary Award

The Bangla Academy has announced the recipients of the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2025, honouring nine writers for their contributions across eight categories.

The list was released on Monday through a statement from the academy's Public Relations Department.

The awardees include Mohon Raihan in poetry, Nasima Anis in fiction, Syed Azizul Haque in essays and prose, Hasan Hafiz in children's literature, Ali Ahmad in translation, Mustafa Majid and Israil Khan jointly in research, Farseem Mannan Mohammedy in science writing, and Maidul Hasan for works related to the Liberation War.

Typically, the Prime Minister presents these awards during the inauguration of the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair.

This year, however, the fair's usual start on February 1 was postponed due to the 13th parliamentary election.

The awards will now be formally conferred by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the inauguration of the Ekushey Book Fair on February 26.
