PM consults with experts to help ease city’s traffic jam

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday consulted with experts on overhauling the traffic management system to ease congestion in the capital city.

The meeting was held at the prime minister's office in the Bangladesh Secretariat in the morning, said Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

"To resolve traffic congestion in Dhaka, the Honorable Prime Minister has spoken with experts about restructuring the traffic system. He held the meeting with several experts led by BUET Civil Engineering Department Professor Dr Md Shamsul Hoque and sought their opinions on the matter," he added.

Earlier, Ruman said, the Prime Minister arrived at his Secretariat from his Gulshan residence at 9:13 am.

He further said that the premier also talked with architects about the renovation and development work at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in the city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. 

Tarique Rahman spoke with the architects and listened to their opinions on the matter.

In addition, the Prime Minister held separate meetings with Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher and Liberation War Affairs Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram. 

State ministers of the respective ministries were also present at the meetings.
