No more opportunities for auto-pass: Education Minister

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has declared that there will be no further opportunities for auto-pass in examinations, emphasising the need to reform the system to foster a merit-based nation. 

He stressed moving away from conventional practices, such as awarding average marks in practical exams, and insisted on genuine, accurate evaluations instead.

Speaking at a view-exchange meeting held on Tuesday in the Education Ministry's conference room to ensure the smooth conduct of the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations, the minister outlined strict measures against irregularities. 

The meeting was attended by State Minister for Education Bobby Hajjaj, chairmen of all education boards, and senior ministry officials, according to a ministry press release.

To curb cheating, particularly through digital devices, the minister announced that necessary laws will be enacted soon. 

He warned that legal action will be taken against anyone who uploads questions, related content, or any exam material to social media or online platforms during examinations.

The minister directed authorities to re-examine vulnerable or risky examination centers and compile an updated list. 

He reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of malpractice or cheating. Candidates must undergo thorough body searches upon entering exam centers, while teachers are expected to play a more active role in preventing irregularities. 

If cheating materials are discovered in center toilets or elsewhere, the responsible authorities will face accountability. 

Additionally, motivational meetings will be organised across various districts to raise awareness and deter cheating.

The minister also highlighted plans to establish district schools in areas lacking them. These institutions will offer classes from grade one through twelve, modeled after higher secondary schools, to further strengthen and unify the national education system.
