JS session to continue till April 30

The first session of Bangladesh's 13th National Parliament (Jatiya Sangsad) will continue until April 30. 

This decision was taken at the inaugural meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, held Saturday in the Cabinet Room of the National Parliament Building. 

The Parliament Secretariat issued a press release confirming the arrangement.

The meeting, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, included key figures such as Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman, Opposition Leader Md. Shafiqur Rahman, Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip Md. Nurul Islam, Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, ATM Azharul Islam, Opposition Chief Whip Md. Nahid Islam, and Muhammad Naushad Zamir. 

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, the Deputy Speaker, attended as a special invitee.

Discussions focused on scheduling to complete the session's agenda, including allocating a total of 50 hours for debate on the President's address. 

Sittings will commence at 3:00 pm on working days, excluding public holidays, though the Speaker retains authority to adjust timings or working days as needed.

A total of 468 starred questions were submitted—8 directed to the Prime Minister and 460 to other ministers—along with 27 notices under Rule 71 to draw attention and 97 under Rule 131 for decision proposals. 

Parliament Secretary Kaniz Maula offered secretarial support, with senior Secretariat officials also present.
