New Vice -Chancellors appointed at 7 universities, new chairman at UGC

Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon announced at a press conference held at the Ministry of Education on Monday that significant changes have been made to the leadership positions of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the vice-chancellorships of seven public universities in Bangladesh, including Dhaka University, Chittagong University, and Rajshahi University.

The minister stated that Professor Dr. S. M. A. Fayez, the Chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), has resigned. In his place, Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, who was serving as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, has been appointed as the new UGC Chairman.

Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, the current Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University, has been named the new Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University.

The new Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University is Professor Siddiqur Rahman Khan.

Professor Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, who was the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of National University, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka Central University.

Professor Dr. Md. Masud has become the Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).

Professor Dr. Mohammad Al Forkan has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University.

Professor Dr. Md. Faridul Islam has been named Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University.

Additionally, Professor Rais Uddin has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University.
