Schedule of Eid congregations in Dhaka

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, which falls on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Bangladesh, a total of 1,771 Eid congregations will be held across the capital Dhaka this year. These include 121 Eidgahs and 1,599 mosques.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented coordinated and robust security arrangements to ensure the safety of all worshippers during these congregations, as announced by Acting Commissioner Md. Sarwar during a press conference on the security plan and traffic management held at the National Eidgah Maidan on Thursday morning.

Most Eid congregations in the capital and across the country are scheduled to begin at 8:30 am.

The main congregation for the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will take place at the National Eidgah Maidan on the High Court premises in Dhaka at 8:30 am.

President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join this congregation to offer their Eid prayers together. In the event of unfavorable weather or any other unavoidable circumstances preventing the outdoor ceremony, the main congregation will shift to the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram, at 9 am.

Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, will lead the prayers as Imam at the National Eidgah, with Islamic Foundation's Mufassir Dr. Maulana Md. Abu Saleh Patwari serving as the alternate Imam.

All preparations for the main congregation have been finalised, including contingencies for adverse weather.

Special arrangements have been made for women at the main Eid congregation, with facilities for a total of 35,000 worshippers, including 3,500 women.

A dedicated entrance, separate ablution areas, and prayer spaces for women have been provided, along with sufficient ablution facilities and on-site medical teams for all attendees.

At the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, five successive Eid congregations will be held, as is customary each year, starting at 7 am, followed by 8 am, 9 am, 10 am, and 11:45 am.

Additionally, Eid prayers will be conducted in area-based mosques under the two city corporations.

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has organized an Eid congregation at the old trade fair ground in Agargaon, scheduled for 8 am on Eid day. This venue can accommodate more than 25,000 worshippers. Three entry gates will be available, including a separate entrance for women, and ablution facilities will be provided for convenience.

An Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will also be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament at 8 am. This event will include participation from the Speaker of the National Parliament, Chief Whip, Whips, Cabinet members, Members of Parliament, Parliament Secretariat officials and employees, as well as general devotees.

The Parliament Secretariat has invited all interested worshippers to join this open congregation.

Two Eid-ul-Fitr congregations are planned at the Central Mosque of Dhaka University (Masjid-ul-Jami'a). The first will start at 8 am, led by Senior Imam Khatib Hafez Maulana Nazir Mahmud, and the second at 9 am, led by senior muezzin MA Jalil, according to a release from the university's Public Relations Office.

In Old Dhaka, the Eid congregation at Mia Saheb's Maidan Khanka Sharif Jame Mosque in Laxmi Bazar will begin at 7 am.

Congregations are also scheduled at 7:30 am at Dhupkhola Maidan (East and Club Ground) organized by the Gendaria Eid Committee, the Dhaka University Playground under Bangladesh Jamiat Ahle Hadith, and South Mugda Rasulbad Jamaat Mosque.

Several other congregations will start at 8 am, including those at Jamia Arabia Imdadul Uloom Faridabad Madrasa Jamaat Mosque, Laxmi Bazar Noorani Jamaat Mosque in Old Dhaka, Masjid Belal (Radi.) in Gendaria, Mohakhali Central Jamaat Mosque, Government Titumir College Ground, Baitun Noor Jamaat Mosque on Manda Sona Mia Road, and Lalbagh Munshi Mia Jan Jamaat Mosque.

At 8:30 am, congregations will occur at Narinda Mushurikhola Darbar Jame Mosque, Dakshin Mugda Rasulbad Jame Mosque, and Jurain Baitul Jalil Jame Mosque in Dhaka.

Additional Eid congregations organized by Bangladesh Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith will take place at various locations such as Uttar Jatrabari, Khilgaon, Madartek, Bhashantek, Homammadpur, Mirpur 11:30, Shantinagar, Dumni, Patira, and others. In the Bashundhara residential area of the capital, 17 Eid congregations are planned.

Outside Dhaka, notable congregations include the main one at the Jamiat-ul-Falah National Mosque in Chittagong, where the first congregation starts at 8:00 am and the second at 8:45 am, managed by the Chittagong City Corporation.

Another congregation is set for 8:30 am at the gymnasium ground of the district stadium under the district administration.

The traditional and historic 199th Eid-ul-Fitr congregation at Sholakia Eidgah ground in Kishoreganj will be held at 10 am on Saturday.

Five platoons of BGB have been deployed for security and law and order, with strict protocols including designated entrances only, prohibitions on bags, sharp objects, or suspicious items, ensuring a smooth, peaceful, and safe environment through coordination with district administration and other agencies.

In Dinajpur, the Eid congregation at Gor-e-Shahid Boro Maidan will begin at 9 am, with three-level security arrangements in place. Maulana Matiur Rahman Qasemi will serve as Imam.

In Bogura district, a total of 1,662 Eidgahs and mosques will host congregations. The main district congregation at the central Eidgah in Sutrapur is scheduled for 8 am, led by Maulana Asgar Ali, Khatib of Bogura Central Big Jame Mosque, with Mufti Maulana Abdul Kader as alternate Imam.

Special arrangements exist for women at the central Eidgah. Other timings include 7 am at Jamil Madrasa, 7:30 am at Government Azizul Haque College (Old Building) Eidgah, 8:15 am at Shyambaria Central Eidgah and Brindabanpara Eidgah, and 8:30 am at several locations such as Katnarpara, Malgram-Chilimpur, Fulbari North and Madhyapara Gorsthan Central Eidgahs, Maltinagar Central Eidgah, Altafunnesa Playground, Eidgah adjacent to Baitus Salam Jame Mosque, Coronation Institution Ground, and Islampur-Harigari Eidgah.

An additional congregation under Bogra District Jamiat Ahle Hadith will be held at Bogra District School Ground at the same time, with provisions for women to participate.
