First meeting of special committee of parliament on Tuesday

The first meeting of the special committee of Bangladesh's 13th National Parliament is scheduled for Tuesday at 11 am in the Cabinet Room of the National Parliament Building. 

Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram will preside over the session, according to a press release issued by the National Parliament Secretariat on Monday.

This special committee, formed on March 15 under the Speaker's chairmanship, holds significant importance in the current parliamentary framework. 

It has been tasked with thoroughly reviewing the 133 ordinances promulgated on various matters during the interim government's tenure. 

The committee will examine which of these ordinances should remain in force and which should be repealed. 

Following detailed scrutiny and discussions within the committee, a final recommendation will be made.

On March 12, the opening day of the parliament's first session, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman tabled these 133 ordinances before the House. 

Under constitutional requirements, parliament must decide on their fate within 30 working days.
