Two former army officers ordered to appear before tribunal on April 7

The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mamun Khaled to be produced before it on April 7 (Tuesday) in a case filed on charges of disappearance during the Awami League regime.

The same order was also made for Lieutenant General (Retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury in a case of July massacre.

The Tribunal-2 headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury issued this order on Sunday, in view of a separate application filed by the investigation agency.

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Sheikh Mamun Khaled, who was in the news for his 11-hour period, was arrested from his house in the capital's Mirpur DOHS area on Wednesday (March 25) midnight, and Lieutenant General (Retd.) Masud Uddin Chowdhury was arrested from the Baridhara DOHS area on Monday (March 23) night.

Among them, Masud Uddin has been arrested in a human trafficking case by the capital's Paltan Police Station and Mamun Khaled has been arrested in a murder case in Mirpur during the mass uprising. 

Both are being interrogated separately by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) on a five-day remand.
