5 bodies recovered from gutted Gas Lighter Factory in Keraniganj

Five bodies have been recovered from a gas lighter factory that was gutted by fire in the Kadamtali area of Keraniganj, Dhaka.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence Control Room, the fire was brought under control after 2:30 pm on Saturday.

A press release issued by the fire service stated that five bodies were recovered from the factory after the blaze was extinguished. 

The gender of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, it said, adding that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and identify the victims.

The fire service received the initial report of the fire at the factory around 1:15 pm. Seven units of the fire service were deployed to douse the flames. 

Initially, three units responded to the scene, and additional units were gradually added as the fire intensified.

The extent of the property damage has not yet been disclosed.
