Jubo League leader stabbed to death in Netrokona

Jubo League leader Wahidul Mridha, also known as Kelis, 38, was stabbed to death in Netrokona’s Durgapur Upazila on Saturday evening. 

The incident occurred around 8:45 pm in the Teri Bazar area of Durgapur Municipality.

His wife, Mahmuda Akhter, filed a murder case with Durgapur Police Station against seven people, including Nur Mohammad, Majedul Islam, and Nurunnahar Begum. 

Police, meanwhile, arrested three suspects in a drive on Sunday morning.

Locals said Nur Mohammad, son of a local laundry businessman, had a prior dispute with the victim and stormed on him before attacking with a sharp knife. Wahidul was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, but he died en route. His body has been sent for autopsy.

The Officer-in-Charge of Durgapur Police Station, Shaker Ahmed, confirmed that three people have been arrested and efforts are under way to apprehend the remaining accused.
