Measles with symptoms claim lives of nine more children

Nine more children died from measles and related symptoms in the last 24 hours from 8am on Friday to 8am on Saturday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A total of 769 patients with measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals nationwide during the same period. Of these, 489 cases were measles probed by laboratory tests.

So far this year, at least 61 children have died from confirmed measles infections in Bangladesh. In addition, 291 children have died with measles symptoms.

A total of 6,979 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing, according to DGHS data conducted from March 15 to May 8.

It also said a total of 47,656 suspected measles cases have been identified across the country. Of these, 29,746 patients have already been discharged after receiving treatment.
