DU Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed resigns

Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed of the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies of Dhaka University (DU) has resigned from the post of proctor of the university, citing personal reasons. 

He tendered his resignation letter to DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam at around 2 pm on Sunday, Saifuddin confirmed to Daily Samakal around 3:45 pm.

The VC said, “I have worked as the proctor of the university for a long time. I worked at the university during that time when there was a risk in the administration. Now the university is much calmer. Now everything has come to a balanced state.”

He also said, “There are many responsibilities as a proctor; I want to be a little free from that responsibility. Therefore, I have resigned.”

In response to a question, he said, not under any pressure; I am resigning for personal reasons.

Saifuddin Ahmed took charge as the proctor on August 28, 2024, after the fall of the Awami League government.
