DU Assistant Proctor Monami resigns

Assistant Professor Shehrin Amin Bhuiyan Monami has resigned from the post of Assistant Proctor of Dhaka University. 

She announced her resignation herself through a Facebook post on Monday morning.

In the post, Monami wrote: “In my seven years of teaching (up to 2024), I have never wanted to take on any administrative responsibility for a moment. While I was at BUP, Jagannath and Dhaka University, I never thought that I would ever take on any administrative responsibility.”

“But on August 28, 2024, when Proctor Sir called me and said that he wanted me as an Assistant Proctor, I was really excited. I am a small lecturer, a smaller person than that, and I am in charge of such a big responsibility that usually gets only senior teachers!!”

Recalling that time, the teacher, who has been in the news for various reasons, wrote: “This is a new Bangladesh with many hopes and dreams in the eyes of all of us. If I can do something good for my own country, my alma mater, what could be more fortunate than this! On top of that, my department’s elder brother-sir, how could I not accept it!?”

She also stated in the post that the experience of working under the leadership of Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmed was very instructive for her. She mentioned that she had learned patience, restraint and humanity in difficult situations.

Without giving a detailed evaluation of the successes and failures of her tenure, she described it as an “extraordinary experience” and expressed gratitude to the entire team.

At the end of the post, she congratulated the new Proctor of Dhaka University and his team and expressed the hope that they would carry out this important responsibility efficiently.
