No concession will be made if any police member gets involved in drugs: IGP

Describing drugs as a major challenge for the country's youth and the future of the nation, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir said, "No concession will be made if any member of the police force is found to be involved in drug use or business."

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the IGP's Badge, Shield Parade, Weapons and Narcotics Recovery Awards ceremony at the Rajarbagh Police Lines ground in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.

The IGP said, "Police members are working tirelessly to maintain law and order in the country, ensure public safety and suppress crime. The award-winning members have further enriched the tradition of the force through their courage, dedication and professionalism." 

He urged all members of the police to perform their duties with more dedication.

In the ceremony, 341 police members were awarded the 'Police Force Exemplary Good Service Badge-2025' in recognition of their exemplary and commendable work from March 1, 2025 to February 28, 2026. The IGP handed over the badges to them.

On the occasion of Police Week-2026, various units were awarded for their success in recovering illegal firearms and anti-drug operations. 

In 'A' group for recovering illegal firearms, Chittagong District Police came first, Chittagong Metropolitan Police came second and Cumilla District Police came third. 

In 'B' group, Cox's Bazar District Police came first, Kushtia District Police came second and Khulna Metropolitan Police came third.

In addition, in 'A' group for recovering drugs, Mymensingh District Police came first, Cumilla District Police came second and Chittagong District Police came third. 

In Group ‘E’, Wari Division DMP secured first place, Tejgaon Division secured second place and Motijheel Division secured third place.

In the Shield Parade competition, the Joint Metropolitan Team secured first place, APBn team secured second place and Industrial Police team secured third place.
