HC grants Khairul Haque bail in two more cases, no obstacles to release

The High Court has granted bail to former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque in the murder case of the capital's Jatrabari and Mirpur police stations during the July uprising. 

A High Court bench granted his bail on Tuesday. Consequently, there is no legal obstacle to his release for now.

A High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher passed the order after hearing a petition. 

Senior lawyer Mansurul Haque Chowdhury, Advocate Motahar Hossain Saju and Advocate Md. Jahangir Hossain represented Khairul Haque in the court.

Earlier, on April 28, the Appellate Division upheld the bail granted to Khairul Haque by the High Court in five cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding the murder of a Jubo Dal activist, forgery of judgments related to the caretaker government, and the murder of a caretaker government. 

The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury gave the order.

On March 8, the High Court granted him bail in four cases. Later, on March 11, he also obtained bail in an ACC case. 

However, the state appealed to the Appellate Division to suspend that bail. In the meantime, he was shown arrested in two more cases in the lower court. Today, the High Court granted bail in those two cases.

It is worth noting that the police arrested former Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque from his residence in Dhanmondi in the capital on July 24 last year. 

Later, he was shown arrested in the case of the murder of Jubo Dal activist Abdul Qayyum Ahad in Jatrabari during the July mass uprising. Apart from this, four more cases were filed against him.
