98 percent of children brought under measles vaccination: Health Minister

Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain has said that currently 98 percent of children in the country have been brought under measles vaccination. 

The government is working to bring the remaining two percent of children under vaccination, he said.

He made the remarks at a function held in the meeting room of the Health Ministry at the Secretariat on Wednesday morning. 

The event was organised to donate 380,000 doses of polio vaccine to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on behalf of the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese organisation Sinovac Foundation.

In response to a question from journalists, the Health Minister said that an investigation will be conducted to determine why some children were left out of measles vaccination in the past. 

However, no formal decision has been made in this regard yet.

Vitamin A Campaign to Start in June

Although there is currently a temporary shortage of vitamin A capsules in the country, it will be filled by next June, he said.

After that, the feeding of vitamin A capsules to children will start in two phases from June, he added.
