Swadhin made Bogura City Corporation’s first administrator

Bogura District unit BNP Vice President MR Islam Swadhin has been appointed as the first administrator of the newly formed Bogura City Corporation. 

He was appointed on Monday evening. 

A notification in this regard was issued last Sunday by the local government division (City Corporation- Branch-1) of the ministry of local government, rural development and cooperatives.

The notification signed by the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry, Md. Rabiul Islam, on the orders of the President, said that MR Islam Swadhin, a resident of Maltinagar area of Bogura city, has been appointed as the full-time administrator of Bogura City Corporation as per sub-section (1) of Section 25A of the Local Government Ordinance, 2024. 

He will perform his duty until the city corporation elections are held or until further orders are issued.

On Tuesday morning, MR Islam Swadhin formally took charge by submitting a written letter to the minister of the ministry of local government. 

According to the notification, he will exercise the powers and perform the duties of the mayor of the newly formed city corporation.

Last Thursday, Bogura was declared a city corporation in a government gazette signed by Local Government Department Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan. 

This city corporation has been formed with the existing Bogura Municipality and some expanded neighbouring areas of Sadar and Shajahanpur upazilas. 

Bogura City Corporation has been formed with 21 wards.

In response after taking charge, MR Islam Swadhin said, “I want to reorganise Bogura City Corporation with everyone’s cooperation.”
