Bus-ambulance head-on collision leaves five dead in Faridpur

Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and an ambulance around 11 am on Sunday in the area adjacent to Shankarpasha Bazar in Nagarkanda Upazila on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway in Faridpur. 

According to the Highway Police, two women and three men were among the dead, all of whom were passengers in the ambulance. 

The names and identities of the victims were not initially known.

Confirming the incident, Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Helal Uddin said that a Dhaka-bound ambulance and a Faridpur-bound BRTC bus collided head-on, leaving five people dead on the spot. Rescue operations are underway.
