‘Police job is a kind of business’ - viral audio leads to OC withdrawal

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Netrokona’s Kalmakanda police station, Md. Abul Hashem, has been withdrawn and attached to the district police lines. 

He was withdrawn on Sunday after an audio comparing ‘police job to business’ went viral on social media. Earlier, the audio went viral on Saturday night.

Netrokona district police superintendent Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter. 

He said that OC Md. Abul Hashem has been withdrawn from the district police lines. In addition, the viral audio is being scrutinised. If the investigation finds the truth of the allegations, necessary legal and departmental action will be taken.

The audio circulating on social media contains statements about financial transactions, coordination with subordinates and not conducting any activities without the permission of the OC. 

The audio can also be heard saying that no one will be deprived of their dues or ‘rights’.
