Free train travel for senior citizens

The 2026-27 budget has proposed free train travel for citizens aged 65 and above. 

In addition, it has been proposed to give a 25 percent discount to these citizens on the metro rail.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury is presenting the proposed budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year at 3 pm on Thursday. 

He is presenting a budget of Tk 9.38 trillion for the next fiscal year in the National Parliament. 

This is the first budget of his life as finance minister. It is also the first budget of the BNP government formed through the national February elections.
