Political appointments and interference in banking sector stopped

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said political appointments and interference in the management of banking activities have been stopped. 

Necessary amendments have been made to the law to make banks free from family influence, he said.

Khosru  is presenting the proposed budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year at 3 pm on Thursday. 

He is presenting a budget of Tk 9.38 trillion for the next fiscal year in the National Parliament. 

This is the first budget of his life as finance minister. It is also the first budget of the BNP government formed through the national February elections.
