Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman returns to Dhaka; refuses to comment on Delhi incident

Prime Minister's Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman has returned from New Delhi airport in India. 

The Prime Minister's Policy and Strategy and Information and Broadcasting Advisor landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka via Colombo, Sri Lanka at around 11:30 am on Monday. 

When journalists present at the airport asked him about the Delhi incident, he refused to comment.

He had gone from Dhaka to Delhi on Sunday to attend the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) conference. 

Sources close to him said that he decided to return home after being angered by the 'discourteous' behaviour of the authorities at the airport. 

Sources close to the adviser told Daily Samakal that after being kept waiting for an hour and asking various questions, Zahed Ur Rahman, who is an adviser with the rank of State Minister, was allowed to enter India. But due to the inappropriate behaviour of the Indian immigration authorities, the adviser refused to enter India. 

He decided to return to Bangladesh via another country from India.

Meanwhile, Indian media outlet CNN-News18 quoted sources as saying that the name of adviser Zahed Ur Rahman was on India's security watch list. 

Immigration officials identified him during a routine search at the Delhi airport. 

He was then detained for verification. The source told News18 that Zahed Ur Rahman was prevented from entering Delhi due to an administrative error. 

Later, after identifying and resolving the discrepancies, the officials granted him a clearance.

Incidentally, India blocked the YouTube channels of some Bangladeshi influencers after the July uprising. The country's authorities claim that the statements of these influencers were anti-India. It is known that Zahed Ur Rahman's name is also on this list.
