‘Kailla’ Palash dies a week after being shot

Yasin Khan Palash alias ‘Kailla’ Palash, once listed as the ‘top terrorist’ of the police, has died a week after being shot in Rampura of the capital. 

Palash was shot near his house in Rampura at around 1:45 pm on June 12, Friday.

He died while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital around 1 am on Saturday, said Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ibne Mizan.

He said that the post-mortem and further arrangements are under process after the death.

Palash was shot near his house opposite Bangladesh Television Bhaban in Rampura on June 12. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. After two days of treatment there, he was taken to Evercare Hospital on the night of June 14 where he has been undergoing treatment.

After the incident, Palash's wife Mahmuda Khanam filed a case of attempt to murder with Hatirjheel Police Station. Palash was once a top terrorist listed by the police. After being in jail for a long time, he was released on bail a month ago.

Hatirjheel Police Station OC Md. Asaduzzaman said that the victim's wife Mahmuda Khanam has filed a case as a plaintiff. The case names 11 people, including Picchi Al Amin, Molla Johnny, Faruk Chacha, Totla Al Amin and Galda Badsha, as suspects. In addition, several unidentified others have been named as accused.

Relatives allege that the accused in the case are members of the Shahazada group who control the crime world in the Rampura-Khilgaon area.
