33 senior police officers sent on compulsory retirement

The government has sent 33 officers of the rank of DIG and Additional DIG of the police on compulsory retirement. 

The order, in this regard, was issued in a notification of the Home Ministry on Sunday night.

The retired officers include 14 Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), 17 Additional Deputy Inspector Generals (Additional DIGs) and two Superintendents of Police, it said. 

However, the notification did not mention any specific reasons for sending them to compulsory retirement.

According to Section 45 of the Government Services Act, 2018, if the government considers it necessary in the public interest, a government employee can be granted retirement (compulsory retirement) from service without assigning any reason after his/her completion of 25 years of service.
