Nine NESCO substations being modernised at Tk 141 crore

As part of the modernisation of the power distribution system in the Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO) area, the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved a purchase proposal worth Tk141.33 crore for the development project of nine 33/11 KV AIS substations.

The approval was given at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement held at the Secretariat on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. 

Another proposal of the Local Government Division was also approved in the same meeting.

According to sources from the meeting, the design, equipment supply, installation, testing and commissioning of nine 33/11 KV AIS substations in the Rangpur region will be implemented through Package-GD-6 (P-06) under the ‘Network Infrastructure Development and Modernisation of Power Distribution System in NESCO Area’ project under the Power Division.

The purchase price of this project has been set at Tk141,33,13,076. A joint venture of Adex Corporation Limited (ACL) and Adex Engineering Limited (AEL) has been selected to implement the work. 

The Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has recommended the approval of the proposal.

Meanwhile, the variation proposal for package number CIB-2-PAN-W-30 of Boda upazila of Panchagarh district under the ‘Construction of Important Bridges on Rural Roads (Second Phase)’ project being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has also been approved.

The original contract value of this project was Tk 110 crore. The variation has been approved at Tk 609, 30,619, which is 5.54 per cent more than the original contract value. 

As a result, the revised contract value stands at Tk116,09, 30,619. This work will be implemented by National Development Engineers Limited.
