Primary scholarship exam results to be published on Sunday

After various complications, the results of the 2025 Primary Scholarship Exam will finally be published on Sunday. 

A press conference will be held at 12 noon at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on this occasion.

This information was given in a press release by the Ministry of Education on Saturday. 

It said that Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon will be present at the results publication ceremony.

Earlier, the scholarship exam results were supposed to be published last Thursday, but a part of the results were leaked online before the scheduled time. 

In this incident, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has temporarily suspended Assistant Maintenance Engineer of the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) Md. Mehtab Kayes.

A three-member investigation committee was formed in an order signed by DPE Director (Administration) Mahbuba Airin on Thursday in the case of the leak of the results. 

The order said that the scholarship exam results were finalised on 8 July. Later, Assistant Maintenance Engineer Md. Mehtab Kayes was given the responsibility of creating the necessary links for the web portal to publish the results. 

Despite instructions not to upload the results to the website without the permission of the appropriate authorities, the results of nine districts of Dhaka Division were uploaded to the relevant links at around 10 am on July 9. Since the links were active for a short time, many people downloaded the results and spread them on social media.

The committee formed to investigate the incident has been convened by DPE Planning and Development Director Md. Mirajul Islam Ukil. The other two members of the committee are Education Officer of the Stipend Division Md. Ziaul Kabir Sumon and Assistant Director of Administration-2 Branch Md. Rokhsana Haider.

After a three-year closure, the interim government decided to re-introduce the Primary Scholarship Examination in 2025. 

According to that decision, the scholarship examination for fifth-grade students was held from April 14 to 18.

The Primary Scholarship Examination was held for fifth-grade students until 2008. In 2009, it was discontinued and the Primary Education Completion Examination was introduced. Later, the scholarship exam was restarted on an experimental basis in 2022.

A total of 82,500 students will receive scholarships this year. Of these, 33,000 students will receive talent pool or merit scholarships and 49,500 students will receive general scholarships. 

Merit scholarship recipients will receive a one-time grant of Tk 225 and a monthly scholarship of Tk 300. 

The one-time grant for general scholarship recipients is Tk 225 and the monthly scholarship amount is Tk 225.
