Bus-pickup head-on collision leaves five dead in Bhanga

Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a pickup van loaded with chicken in Bhanga of Faridpur. 

The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Bhanga highway in the Swadi area of Bhanga upazila at around 7:45 pm on Saturday.

Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Alim confirmed the casualties. 

However, the identities of the deceased were not immediately known, he said.

The OC said that a pickup van loaded with chicken collided head-on with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction, leaving five people dead on the spot.

On information, police and rescue teams reached the spot and started rescue work, said Abdul Alim, adding that the injured were being taken to the hospitals.
