79,246 students receive primary scholarships

The results of the 2025 Primary Scholarship Exam have been officially published. The outcomes were announced at a press conference held at the International Mother Language Institute at 12 noon on Sunday.

A total of 79,246 students have been awarded scholarships under the talent pool and general categories. 

In the talent pool, 26,375 students from government schools and 6,590 from private schools received awards, out of 32,965 available. 

Meanwhile, 46,281 general scholarships were distributed, with 36,420 going to government school students and 9,861 to those from private institutions. 

Overall, male students accounted for 35,892 (45.29 percent) of the successful candidates, while female students made up 43,354 (54.71 percent).

The press conference was attended by Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr Ehsanul Haque Milon, State Minister Bobby Hajjaj, State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Aminul Haque, Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin, and Abdul Khalek, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.

The Primary Scholarship Exam 2025 was conducted in April 2026 for fifth-grade students, with the aim of identifying talented pupils, recognising their achievements, and motivating educational institutions to nurture a knowledgeable future generation.

According to the Primary Scholarship Exam Policy 2026, a total of 82,500 scholarships were to be awarded nationwide, comprising 33,000 talent pool scholarships and 49,500 general scholarships. Of the talent pool awards, 80 percent were allocated to government schools and 20 percent to private schools. 

For general scholarships, 39,600 were designated for government primary schools on a union and ward basis (two for boys, two for girls, and the rest on merit), while 20 percent were reserved for private schools on an upazila basis.

Ministry sources indicated that 78,810 schools participated in the examination, including 65,605 government schools and 13,205 private schools. 

The total number of registered examinees stood at 645,041, of whom 256,117 were male and 388,924 female. Ultimately, 419,982 students (65.11 percent) appeared for the exam, with 344,127 from government schools (62.01 percent attendance) and 75,855 from private schools (84.16 percent attendance). 

Among those present, 166,641 (39.68 percent) were male and 253,341 (60.32 percent) were female.

Addressing the press conference, the Primary and Mass Education Minister stated that organising the Primary Scholarship Exam 2025 was not merely a process of verifying merit, but an important step towards developing the country’s future generation as competitive and responsible citizens.

How to check the results

The Directorate of Primary Education has advised that students can obtain their results by sending an SMS from any mobile operator. 

Users should type “DPE” followed by a space and their roll number, then send it to 16222. Detailed results and marksheets are also available on the Department of Primary Education’s website (https://ipemis.dpe.gov.bd/scholarship-results) by selecting the Primary Scholarship Exam option and providing the roll number along with district and upazila information.
