Some quarters want to embarrass the government: Salahuddin

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that some quarters want to embarrass the government in the context of protests, road blockades, and rallies by students in various parts of the country, including Dhaka.

The protests were staged expressing anger over the conduct of HSC exams in adverse weather conditions, errors in the physics question paper, and the quality of questions, 

He said these things in response to questions from journalists at the Secretariat on Thursday.

The Home Minister said, “We have seen that many non-students have also joined this movement. Therefore, we are not taking the matter seriously so far. Some quarters want to embarrass the government. They are basically trying to fish in troubled waters.” 

He also mentioned that such a trend of movement was seen earlier during the interim government.

He said that the students have informed the education minister about their demands and informed the government. 

The education ministry has made its position clear in this regard that if any student fails to appear for the exam due to inclement weather, they will be given a chance to appear again.

The home minister said, “The ministry of education will conduct an investigation into the two questions in Physics that were wrong. The responsible persons will be identified and action will be taken. However, it has been announced that the marks for those two questions will be added. Those who are taking the exam are satisfied. Even after this, if anyone does not appear for the next exam or cannot appear, they will be given a chance later during the Chattogram Education Board exam. Here, the problem has been solved.”

At this time, he said that many people have been upset because of a comment, and the education minister has expressed his regret for this in his speech in Parliament.

When asked what the message is for those who want to embarrass the government, the home minister said, “We are not taking these very seriously. We have seen in one or two districts and one or two spots in Dhaka, not many of them are talking about these. Maybe it has come to the media, that is why the issue has become important. We are not paying attention to these.”
