No confirmed information about cabinet reshuffle: Dr. Zahed

Prime Minister's Information Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said that he had no confirmed information about cabinet reshuffle. 

“I am seeing this discussion in the media. I don't know anything more than that. However, if the prime minister finds the work of any minister or adviser unsatisfactory, he can decide to redistribute responsibilities or give responsibility to someone new,” Zahed said.

The information adviser made the remarks in response to journalists' questions at the weekly briefing on Tuesday on the government's five-month activities, administrative reforms, prevention of misleading information, law and order situation, allegations of disappearances, compensation in the milestone accident, possible changes in the cabinet and the restructuring of various state institutions.

The adviser highlighted the government's recent activities at the press conference. 

Syed Abdal Ahmed, Chief Information Officer of the Directorate of Information, was also present at the time.

The new cabinet was formed on February 17 under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Currently, apart from the prime minister, there are 24 full ministers and 23 state ministers in the cabinet. 

In addition, there are 10 advisers with the rank of minister and state minister. 

According to the Rules of Business, the prime minister distributes the responsibilities of ministries or departments to the ministers and state ministers.

At the press conference, it was asked whether there is any discussion of any reshuffle in the cabinet within 180 days of the BNP government? 

Answering the question, Zahed Ur Rahman said, “The prime minister has formed a cabinet. He has formed an advisory council. As far as I understand from talking to him (the prime minister), if he (the prime minister) ever feels that someone is not performing well, he will redistribute the portfolio or give it to someone new, if necessary, he will do it. Because, at the end of the day, to achieve the welfare of the people... if there is an opportunity to make any choice or decision of his as the prime minister better, he will do it. I felt this after talking to him personally. It cannot be said for sure whether it will be 180 days (the government's 180 days) or it will take a little longer.”
