Chhatra Dal-Shibir clash at Dhaka College, tension escalated

A chase and counter-chase and clash took place between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Islami Chhatra Shibir leaders and activists at Dhaka College at around 2 pm on Tuesday. 

The incident spread tension on the campus. 

According to eyewitnesses and relevant sources, after the clash, JCD leaders and activists took position at the main gate of the college. At that time, tension prevailed between both the parties.

It is learnt that a student injured in the clash has been admitted to a private hospital in Dhanmondi.

The JCD alleged that 20 to 25 leaders and activists led by Abdul Malek, the office secretary of the college unit of Chhatra Shibir, attacked all on a sudden and beat up their convening committee member Parvez Mosharraf. Later, he was given first aid.

On the other hand, Dhaka College unit of Chhatra Shibir Finance Secretary Mohammad Mamun denied the allegations and said that preparations were under way for a reception and discussion meeting for the martyred family members at Gallery-2 of the college on the occasion of the anniversary of the July mass uprising. At that time, some leaders and activists led by Office Secretary Abdul Malek were doing decoration work. Then 20 to 25 Chhatra Dal leaders and activists led by Pervez Musharraf came and attacked them.

The statement of the Dhaka College principal was not available on the incident.
