Govt to take action if news about Sheikh Hasina’s statement spread: Dr Zahed

The Bangladesh government will warn the media not to spread news about Sheikh Hasina’s statement, said the Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr Zahed Ur Rahman.

At a press conference held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, journalists asked him about this. 

In response, he said, “When Sheikh Hasina is giving a speech, we have given a briefing before, we have given an instruction to the newspapers.”

He said, “She will give a speech again – if someone has given such news, she will do it tomorrow – if someone announces it in advance, publishes it, it will definitely violate the court’s verdict. We will take action in this regard.”

Mentioning that the Bangladesh government has warned those who have published reports on Sheikh Hasina’s speech before, he said, “We will remind them again that no one should do this. Because it is a court order. The government is not the court.”

“If someone is aggrieved that it is wrong to stop the broadcast of Sheikh Hasina’s speech, if someone thinks it should be allowed to be broadcast – they can go to court. The government’s job is to see whether the court’s decision is being executed. It will take action in this regard.”
