PM inspects Matarbari mega projects

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has inspect various mega development projects in Matarbari, Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar. 

The helicopter carrying him landed at the helipad of the Matarbari coal-fired power project at around 10:40am on Sunday. 

This is his first visit to Maheshkhali after assuming office as the prime minister.

Earlier, he left for Matarbari by helicopter from Tejgaon Airport in Dhaka at 9:15am.

At the beginning of this day-long visit, he is set to inspect the Matarbari deep-sea port, the 1,320 MW coal-fired thermal power plant and the overall activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority. 

He is set to review various infrastructure projects being implemented and proposed there and provide necessary guidance.

After the visit and programme in Matarbari, the prime minister is set to leave for Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong by helicopter. 

There, he is scheduled to participate in the programme of distributing relief to the flood victims and handing over new houses. 

Meanwhile, there is great enthusiasm and excitement in Maheshkhali and Matarbari surrounding the prime minister’s arrival. 

Strict steps have been taken by the law-enforcement agencies to ensure the smooth visit and overall security. 

The Chittagong divisional commissioner and senior police officials have inspected the security arrangements of the venue and the surrounding area.
