Dipu Moni released on parole for 12 hours

Former Education Minister and Joint General Secretary of the banned Awami League Dr Dipu Moni has been ordered to be released on parole for 12 hours. 

The order to be released for 12 hours from 6am to 6pm was issued on the application of the former minister’s daughter Tani Deepabli Newaz. 

Her parole application was filed following the death of the Awami League leader Dipu Moni’s husband Barrister Toufique Newaz.

Additional District Magistrate of Munshiganj District Md Rezaul Karim confirmed this information. 

He said that in view of the lawyer’s application, former minister Dr Dipu Moni has been ordered to be released on parole for 12 hours. Her four-day release application was filed.

Dipu Moni’s lawyer Gazi Faisal Islam gave this information. 

He said that earlier on Wednesday around 12 noon, her daughter entered the prison to meet her mother. She left the prison and went to the Deputy Commissioner’s office around 1:45pm with an application for parole. The application was submitted to Additional Deputy Commissioner Rezaul Karim and she was granted parole for 12 hours. 

At that time, three members of Dipu Moni’s family and her lawyer were present at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

It is learned that Dipu Moni has been asked to be released on parole for four days. The former minister is currently in Munshiganj District Jail.

Dipu Moni’s husband Toufiq Newaz died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital around 10:30pm on Tuesday. He had been suffering from various kidney and liver complications for a long time.
