New ministers and state ministers pay tribute at National Memorial

Newly appointed ministers and state ministers paid their respects to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar on Saturday afternoon.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Abdul Moyeen Khan, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Saching Pru Jerry, Information and Broadcasting Minister Andalib Rahman Partha, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir and State Minister for Religion Mohammad Shamim Kaiser arrived at the memorial shortly after 1pm. 

They laid wreaths, observed a period of silence in memory of the martyrs and signed the visitors’ book.

Earlier in the morning, newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also paid tribute at the same site.

Anwar Hossain Anu, deputy director of the Public Works Department at the National Memorial, confirmed that four ministers and two state ministers had visited to honour the fallen.
