5 more die of suspected measles

Five children died of suspected measles across the country in the last 24 hours, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This brings the total number of deaths from suspected measles since March 15 to 844. No deaths from confirmed measles were recorded in the past 24 hours, though 99 people have died of confirmed measles since March 15.

In the same 24-hour period, 986 suspected measles cases were reported, raising the cumulative total of suspected cases from March 15 to August 25 to 151,638. Confirmed cases numbered 91 in the past day, taking the overall confirmed total since March 15 to 18,578.

Between March 15and August 25, a total of 132,554 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals. Of these, 127,811 have recovered and been discharged.
