Bidisha Ershad arrested

Police have arrested Bidisha Ershad, wife of former President and Jatiya Party founding chairman late Hussain Mohammad Ershad. 

Police said the arrest was made following the arrest warrant issued against her by the court.

Bidisha was arrested from a restaurant in Gulshan in the capital around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, said Gulshan Police Station OC Daud Hossain.

Daud told Daily Samakal, “Bidisha was accused in a 2008 fraud case. In the trial of that case, she was sentenced to two years in prison and fined Tk10,000. The court issued a warrant for her arrest. On the basis of that arrest warrant, she was arrested from Gulshan-2 section at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday. She will be produced before the court on Wednesday.”
