4 maritime ports asked to hoist local cautionary signal No 3

A low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay and adjoining areas, prompting the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) to issue a cautionary weather warning for maritime ports and coastal areas of the country.

According to a BMD warning message issued on Thursday, the weather system may cause squally conditions over the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No 3 as a precautionary measure.

The BMD has also advised all fishing boats and trawlers operating over the North Bay to move close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Authorities have urged fishing communities and vessels in the affected areas to remain alert and closely monitor further weather updates issued by the meteorological authorities.

The BMD is expected to issue further updates depending on the movement and intensification of the low-pressure system.

No warning issued for inland river ports till 6pm.

However, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued no warning for inland river ports across the country until 6pm today.

According to the BMD's inland riverport warning, no warning signal will be in force at any inland river port from 9am to 6pm today.

The department advised river users and authorities to remain alert and continue monitoring weather updates for any changes in conditions.
