Seven more die from measles symptoms

Seven more people have died with symptoms of measles in the country over the past 24 hours. Among the seven who died, three were from the Dhaka division, while one each was from the Sylhet, Rajshahi, Chattogram, and Khulna divisions.

This information was disclosed on Thursday in the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) regular report on measles.

The report states that the deaths were recorded between 8:00 am on Wednesday and 8:00 am on Thursday. 

With this, the total number of deaths involving measles symptoms since March 15 has reached 909, while 100 deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles. The combined death toll stands at 1,009.

According to the DGHS report, measles symptoms appeared in another 1,165 people across the country in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, the total number of patients showing measles symptoms has reached 168,745.

The DGHS reported that 29 confirmed cases of measles were detected in the last 24 hours. Since March 15, a total of 19,933 cases of measles have been confirmed in the country.

Since March 15, a total of 148,505 patients have been hospitalised with measles symptoms; of these, 142,888 have recovered and been discharged.
