7 more die of measles symptoms

Seven more people have died across the country in the last 24 hours with symptoms of measles, taking the total death toll from measles and measles-like symptoms to 1,019 since March 15 of this year. 

In the past day alone, 855 new cases with measles and its symptoms were reported.

This information was disclosed on Saturday in the Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) regular report on measles.

The DGHS stated that a total of 1,019 people have lost their lives across the country due to measles and measles-like symptoms between March 15 and Saturday. Of these, 919 died from symptoms connected with measles, while 100 died after contracting the disease.

The report further noted that 39 new cases of measles were confirmed in the last 24 hours, while 816 additional individuals showed symptoms of the disease during the same period. 

Consequently, the total number of people showing measles symptoms since March 15 has reached 170,638, with 20,006 confirmed cases recorded during this time.

According to the DGHS, a total of 150,202 people have been hospitalised with measles symptoms nationwide since March 15. Of these, 144,485 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital so far.
