Six die of dengue, 1,561 hospitalised in 24 hours

Six people died of dengue and 1,561 others were hospitalised with the disease in the 24 hours ending at 8:00am on Sunday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly hospitalised patients, 627 were in Dhaka Division, 275 in Khulna, 202 in Barishal, 181 in Chattogram, 104 in Rajshahi, 93 in Mymensingh, 73 in Rangpur and six in Sylhet.

So far this year, 51,837 dengue patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide. The six latest deaths have taken the year’s death toll to 149.

In the same 24-hour period, 1,394 patients recovered and were discharged. A total of 48,093 dengue patients have recovered and returned home this year after hospital treatment.

Last year, 102,861 people were infected with dengue and 413 died from the disease.
