547 arrested across Dhaka in 24hrs

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 547 people and filed 48 cases during regular operations across the capital in the past 24 hours.

According to a DMP press release, police seized 2,321 yaba tablets, 2.38 kilograms of cannabis, eight bottles of phensedyl and five bottles of foreign liquor during the operations.

They also recovered a locally made one-shooter gun, 27 rounds of ammunition, eight mobile phones, 200 yards of internet cable, a bus and Tk 12,750 in cash.

Mirpur Division made the highest number of arrests with 138, followed by Tejgaon with 92 and Wari with 77. Ramna arrested 37, Lalbagh 32, Motijheel 58, Gulshan 53, Uttara 56, while the Detective Branch and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit each arrested two.

The DMP said the arrests were made during operations conducted at different locations across Dhaka. Legal proceedings against those detained are currently underway.
