8 more children die with measles symptoms

Eight children have died with symptoms of measles in the last 24 hours across the country. During this period, 1,320 children were affected by measles or exhibited symptoms of the disease.

This information was disclosed on Wednesday afternoon in the Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) regular report on measles.

The report states that while eight more children died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, none of the deaths were confirmed to be caused by measles itself.

This brings the total number of deaths involving children with measles symptoms across the country to 944 since March 15. Additionally, 100 children have lost their lives due to confirmed measles.

In total, 1,044 children have died from measles or associated symptoms during this period.

Furthermore, 81 children were diagnosed with measles in the last 24 hours, while 1,239 patients exhibited symptoms. During this time, 1,141 children were newly admitted to hospitals, and 1,079 were discharged.

According to the DGHS, the total number of suspected measles cases since March 15 stands at 175,198, with 20,282 confirmed cases. Of these, 154,420 patients were hospitalised, and 148,465 have been discharged and returned home.
