SRB begins operations today

A new force named the ‘Special Response Battalion’ (SRB) has commenced operations. The new force has been formed following the dissolution of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). 

The force's Legal and Media Wing announced that operations under the new name would begin on Wednesday.

The logo's design of RAB remains unchanged. 

Additionally, the logo has been updated on the former RAB website, which now prominently displays ‘SRB’ and features the new logo, though the URL remains the same.

Despite objections from the opposition, a bill was passed in the National Parliament on September 10 to dissolve RAB and form a new specialized unit under the police—the ‘Special Response Battalion’ (SRB). 

The law came into effect on Tuesday, following the issuance of the relevant gazette notification.
